Hungarian vignettes in 2024

Hungary is a popular tourist destination, so if you are arriving by car or travelling through the country it is worth keeping in mind that most Hungarian highways are toll roads, so it is worth planning your route and buying your highway vignette in advance.
Price categories
Different vehicles are classified into 4 categories according to the coding on their registration document, which is called the toll category for highway vignettes. When buying a vignette, you should pay particular attention to choosing the right one.

Daily, weekly (10-day), monthly, county and annual national vignettes are available for all four fee categories. The county vignette is valid only on toll roads in the selected county, while the other vignettes are valid on all toll roads in Hungary.
Types of vignettes
The daily vignette is valid from the exact time of purchase until 23:59 on the same day. If you want to buy a vignette for a predetermined day, i.e. in advance, it is valid from 0:00 on the calendar day you have chosen until 23:59 on the same day.
The weekly (10-day) vignette is valid from the starting date chosen by the purchaser and for a further 9 days until 23:59 on the last calendar day.
The monthly e-vignette is valid from the starting date indicated by the customer until 23:59 on the same day of the following month.
The annual county e-vignette is valid on toll roads in the county specified by the purchaser from the date of purchase until 23:59 on 31 January of the following year. For pre-purchases, it is valid from the first day of the year in question until 23:59 on 31 January of the following year.
The annual national e-vignette is valid from the date of purchase until 23:59 on 31 January of the following year, while an annual vignette purchased during pre-purchase is valid from the first day of the year in question until 23:59 on 31 January of the following year.
