2023. 06. 22. 10:08:44
Before using the motorways, it is important to gather all the relevant information for a safe and stress-free journey. To avoid penalties, it is crucial to purchase the motorway vignette and provide accurate details.
“Where and what should I pay?”- We often ask ourselves this question during our car trips abroad. Let's see how you can simplify the planning process for your journey.
As a first step, plan your route. This will help you identify rest areas and map out the roads. It will also allow you to search for the exact location in advance when purchasing the vignette offline. In Hungary, you can purchase the motorway vignette online through the website, mobile application, or at petrol stations.
The second step is to decide whether you want to buy the necessary vignette: online or offline. The advantages of online purchase are that there is no need to register for the purchase, it is contactless, does not require waiting in line, and ensures that your journey ends without penalties. In the case of traveling with multiple cars, you can purchase vignettes for all vehicles at once through online purchase. Simply select the vehicle and vignette type on the website, then click on the "Add Another Vignette" menu button and add the additional vehicles.
For the third step, double-check the accurate details of your car to avoid providing incorrect information. After that, you can eagerly await the start of your journey and embark on your car excursion without worries.

Penalties
Properly purchasing the motorway vignette is crucial during our journeys, as penalties for D1/D2 vehicles are HUF 18,750 if paid within 60 days, but it increases to HUF 74,970 thereafter. For B2 category vehicles, the penalty is HUF 84,330 if paid within 60 days, and HUF 337,290 thereafter. The penalties can be quite high, which is why it is important to provide accurate information during the purchase and choose the appropriate vignette type.
